Consular Processing & Adjustment of Status

Guiding immigrants through consular visa processing at U.S. embassies and I-485 adjustment of status applications. Serving clients across all 50 states.

The final stage of obtaining a green card is completed either at a U.S. consulate abroad or through adjustment of status inside the United States. We guide clients through both.

Consular Processing

For applicants outside the United States — or those required to process abroad — we prepare the immigrant visa application, assemble the civil and financial documentation, and prepare clients for the consular interview at the U.S. embassy.

Adjustment of Status (Form I-485)

For eligible applicants in the United States, adjustment of status allows the green card to be obtained without departing the country. We coordinate the I-485 with the underlying petition and any concurrent employment authorization and travel document requests.

Avoiding Common Pitfalls

Inadmissibility issues, prior unlawful presence, and documentation gaps can derail an otherwise approvable case. We screen for these issues early and address them — including through waivers where needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I choose between consular processing and adjustment of status?
Sometimes. Eligibility depends on your location, current status, and immigration history. Where both are available, we help you weigh the timing, travel, and risk considerations.
What happens at the consular interview?
A consular officer reviews your application and documents and asks questions to confirm eligibility and admissibility. We prepare clients thoroughly so they know what to expect.
Can I travel while my I-485 is pending?
Generally only with an approved advance parole travel document, and travel can carry risks in some cases. We advise on this based on your specific status and history.
